Following a very successful year of touring the world, astonishing fans while headlining at Falls Festival and across their Australia-wide tour and the release of their most recent album, “Hold My Home” out now via Create/Control and Downtown Records California indie rockers Cold War Kids are once again getting ready for their year ahead. The Long Beach five-piece release a new music video for the second track of their album, ‘First.’

A passionate take on their elevated indie-rock, ‘First’ channels the emotionally raw vocal range of Willett balanced expertly against thundering drums. The track is grand and regaling, a sonically uplifting mix of jittery guitars, handclap rhythms, and dynamic vocal harmonies that Cold War Kids have made their signature move.

courtney barnett

After having what can only be described as a truly amazing breakthrough year in 2014, Melbourne’s Courtney Barnett is today incredibly excited to announce details for the release of her highly-anticipated debut album entitled Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit. The first single to be lifted from the album is ‘Pedestrian At Best’ which received its worldwide radio premiere via Zane Lowe on BBC1 this morning.
Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit will be released in Australia on Friday 20th March 2015 via Milk! Records / Remote Control Records. Recorded in the autumn of 2014 in an intense 10 day session at Head Gap studios in Melbourne, the album finally brings Barnett’s pithily acute and stingingly incisive vision into stark, unflinching focus, her wit sharpened to a knife edge, her melodies more infectious and addictive than ever.

Following up from the critically lauded The Double EP: A Sea of Split Peas in 2013 (which, as the title suggests, collected her first two self-released EPs to beguiling effect), her debut LP cements Barnett’s standing as one of the most distinctive voices in indie rock, mixing witty, often hilarious observations with devastating self-assessment over a beguiling collection of songs that reveals her as an ambitious songwriter with an ear for clever turns of phrase and an eye for story-song details that are literate without being pretentious.

On first single, ‘Pedestrian At Best‘, Barnett turns the microscope’s glare on herself, as she lets loose an internal monologue crammed with twisting rhymes, inside jokes and self-deprecation while she muses on the fleeting nature of fame and what may or may not come after (“I must confess I’ve made a mess of what should be a small success, but I digress. At least I tried my very best… I guess”).

Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit is available for pre-order today on Deluxe White Double Gatefold Vinyl, Single LP Regular Black Vinyl and CD via

HOUNDMOUTH Announce new album Little Neon Limelight

HOUNDMOUTH Announce new album Little Neon Limelight

After being picked by Spotify as one of the top bands poised for breakout in 2015, New Albany’s Houndmouth have confirmed the release of Little Neon Limelight via Rough Trade / Remote Control on Friday 13th March.

The album is the follow-up to their “near perfect” (NPR Music) debut album, which saw them perform on Letterman, Conan, CBS This Morning, and tour with The Alabama Shakes, The Lumineers and more. Little Neon Limelight was recorded in Nashville with producer Dave Cobb (Sturgill Simpson).  The band have premiered the music video for their new song ‘Sedona’ filmed near Joshua Tree and directed by Naomi Yang (Neutral Milk Hotel).

The 11 new, original songs on Little Neon Limelight are the band’s best to date, blending their signature four-part harmonies with the gritty foot-stomping rock swagger of their live shows and a loose confidence in the studio.

“I’ve grown up a lot since our first record,” reflects frontman Matt Myers (guitar / vocals), adding, “the inspiration falls close to the struggle of figuring out exactly what it means to be a man, let alone an artist.”

Highlights of Little Neon Limelight include the live fan-favorites ‘By God,’ ‘My Cousin Greg,’ and ‘Say It,’ and the acoustic track ‘For No One,’ which recently premiered on NPR Music, and is unlike anything else Houndmouth have ever recorded. NPR’s Ann Powers called ‘For No One’ an “epic ballad, stuffed full of vivid imagery.”

Check Out the New single Sedona, Here.

Houndmouth – Little Neon Limelight is available to pre order digitally now via Rough Trade / Remote Control.

Purity Ring Announce New Album another eternity

Purity Ring Announce New Album Another Eternity Released 2nd March Through 4AD

purity ring

Canadian duo Megan James and Corin Roddick, the brains behind Purity Ring, will return with a second album, entitled another eternity, in the week commencing 2nd March.

They’ve also premiered new track ‘begin again’, which you can check out below, and stream on all digital services.

Whereas the band’s debut album Shrines was composed remotely between Halifax and Montreal, another eternity marks the first time Megan and Corin were able to create a record in the same room. The pair ventured home to the frozen industrial landscapes of their birthplace Edmonton, Alberta to document much of what became the album. Megan and Corin recorded and produced their follow-up themselves, as always.

dorsal fins

Remote Control Records are excited to announce the signing of Melbourne ten piece, Dorsal Fins for the release of thier debut album Mind Renovation through Gripless / Remote Control on Friday 13th February 2015. The eclectic outfit join Remote Control’s ever increasing Australian roster which currently includes Courtney Barnett, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Client Liaison, Klo, Saskwatch, Pealrs, Velociraptor, Teeth & Tongue and Sunbeam Sound Machine.

Dorsal Fins is the brainchild of Liam McGorry (Saskwatch / Eagle & The Worm). The group started from Liam’s idea to experiment with new sounds and processes. Although they had no strict plan to create anything; the beauty of throwing a bunch of musical legends into a room is that you will definitely end up with something special.

McGorry describes the progression of the project as “organic, no bells and whistles” and this rings true with their single ‘Mind Renovation’. The title track invites you to witness the expansiveness of the band’s sound with warm horns, tight arrangements and dynamic vocals from Jarrad Brown and Ella Thompson. The forthcoming LP sees the group collaborate to create a genre-spanning sound that is held together by the excitement, sincerity and instrumental prowess of the ten or so musicians.

Dorsal Fins – Mind Renovation will be released on
Friday 13th February 2015 via Gripless / Remote Control Records

2015 National Tour
Summer rock favourites the Band of Skulls have just announced Sydney’s Spookyland as their support for 2015’s intimate run of club shows. Supporting frequent touring buddies The Black Keys’ at their Rolling Green concerts as well as a sought-after performance at Bluesfest, Band of Skulls’ Melbourne and Sydney show’s will be kicked off with the local indie rockers that Pitchfork labelled ‘utterly magnetizing’.

Spookyland last year released their EP “Rock and Roll Weakling” to sweeping acclaim from international press and local tastemakers. The moody and vulnerable vocals of lead singer Marcus Gordon soar across dark bluesy rock, with an underlying textured pop sensibility, that saw the band asked to play CMJ showcases and set off on their own tour of Europe. Back home, they have recently supported the likes of Cold War Kids, Benjamin Booker and now fellow unique rockers, Band of Skulls.

Returning to Australia for the second time in a whirlwind worldwide tour for their third LP “Himalayan” Band of Skull’s performances befit a band honed by two years of constant touring, as well as a memorable performance at the Splendour In The Grass music festival – their sun-kissed melodies sweeter than ever, their riffs heavier and dirtier…Now, after a year of perfecting their latest album on the live stage, a string of high-profile shows across the UK and Europe the trio offer Australian audiences another chance to see them live.
They are ecstatically received, and encore The Devil Takes Care of His Own is a fantastically barbed and carnal grunge odyssey that packs a visceral punch.”
- The Guardian UK on Band of Skulls

“An enviable confidence that will hopefully carry him far and wide as a vocalist, producer and performer…”
